NOx reduction in QAFCO
Nitrogen oxides, or NOx, is the generic term for a group of highly reactive gases, all of which contain nitrogen and oxygen in varying amounts. Among all nitrogen oxides, nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and nitric oxide (NO) are the most serious air pollutants. QAFCO has installed the low NOx burners in its emission sources to reduce the NOx emissions.
QAFCO is leading the way in reducing NOx emissions by using De-NOx Technology in QAFCO and is providing this solution to Qatari industries and power stations to help control their NOx emissions. The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Technology is one of the most cost efficient and effective means of controlling NOx emissions from diesel engines. This technology uses 19% aqueous Ammonia Or 32.5% Urea Solution and a catalyst to reduce NOx emission from diesel engines. QAFCO is exploring this initiative in Qatar and have planned to collaborate with Qatar Fuel Company (WOQOD) to implement the use of this technology in all heavy duty diesel trucks and bus engines in order to reduce Nox emissions.
